design by Ann Weaver
I love using bold contrast in my work, particularly contrast of hue, which is the most intense type of contrast. This project uses yarn from The Verdant Gryphon in the three primary colors to demonstrate contrast of hue. For this design I broke up the bold colors with a neutral gray. Intense color can be wearable!
The Verdant Gryphon ‘Bugga’, 4.3 oz/412 yds, 70% superwash merino, 20% cashmere, 10% nylon, shown in:
Grey Hairstreak (A) 350 yds, Greater Pond Snail (B) 140 yds, Forester Moth (C) 280 yds, and American Rubyspot (D)410 yds
Note: You will use nearly the entire skein of D. You can purchase a second skein of D to ensure you have enough yarn, or work fewer rows in D.
